I’m Adrienne Samuels Gibbs. I’m an award-winning journalist, essayist and Executive Director of the Investigative Project on Race and Equity. I’ve been the Managing Editor of Ebony, the Director of Content at Medium and a staff reporter at five major American newspapers. I contribute to Fortune and Forbes and appear regularly on CNN.

My bylines span culture, business, race and the arts — from Netflix and Time Life to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Red Bull, Marie Claire, Pitchfork, Essence and Vice. I’ve profiled presidents, pop stars, athletes and artists. I’ve also written the quieter stories — the ones about community, identity and what it means to belong somewhere.
